removing split shafts
My 1986 needs new rear u joints on the split shafts. I was wondering if there is easy to pull them out as the C3 vettes are? . I wish any corner cutting w/o being a butcher. Have access to lift and any tools needed .Any input welcome.
It is a pretty fair task. You have to take the torque struts loose and all the spindle mounts, as the hub assembly is not like the C3's. Be sure and mark clock rotation on bottom control arms since they are used to set caster and any other bolts that used in alignment. It is a good 2-3 hour job per side aside from installing u-joints. Check your hub assembly close for bearing roughness as it would be a perfect time to replace them if they are bad.
