Default Mid year side pipe heat shield

I bought a mid year side pipe inner black heat shield that I need to install on the outer aluminum cover. Does anyone know this is supposed to attach to the cover? I thought I had heard one time that it gets glued in place but I don't know if I would trust glue with the high heat and vibration, but I don't see any way of attaching it with hardware.

Welcome to the forum.

On my '69 factory side exhausts, it is attached w/ hardware. Best bet is to get a AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) to see how the factory did it.

Thanks 73shark. The manual shows the inner plastic shield and the outer aluminum shield as one part number, already attached to each other. I'll have to find a good glue that will stick to plastic and metal and can withstand the heat.

Might check w/ a body shop or muffler shop. Or contact a vendor and see what they use.
