Default Pimples in paint on fender

I have a 67', 327/350 4 speed. I understand that for some reason on many c2's, little pimples appear under the paint on the front driver side vendor. Supposedly this has nothing to do with the paint job or curing but is an issue with the fiberglass itself. I have inquired about having it repainted, but no one will guarantee that it won't come back.
Does anyone know the story behind this and if there is a correct way to rectify this?

Rob

Welcome to the forum. A friend of mine had a big block '66 Roadster that had a new hood surround from Eckler put on it and it developed the same pimples after it had been repainted twice. Unfortunately the painter who installed the hood surround did not keep the receipt and Eckler would not replace it. The best thing I could suggest would be to have it re-gel coated and try to see if that will seal out the problem. But you need to find someone who is knowledgeable about painting fiberglass.

Default Pimples in Paint

I have a 1963 Corvette SW Coupe, it had new paint and a full restoration in the 1970's. Recently, starting about 5 years ago, I also noticed the little pimples in the paint on the top surface of the driver's side fender near the hood and cowl. Why after 40 plus years would
this start to appear? Also it seems to be spreading very slowly from the original area. I showed it to a number of corvette folks and they all said it is something in the glass (completely original, non hit car ) that is starting to leach through. I guess I am going to keep it waxed and ignore this patina. .

Thanks MFJ... same issue with regrettably the same response that I get...all original, never hit, yet you get this... when I take it to a show, and with everything else looking great, judges just zero in on this.

I would like to take the shark's advice, but no one will guarantee that it won't happen again..Rob

Default Pimples in paint

I was really surprised to see this thread. I was looking for something else but I'm new here so I'm looking around. Anyway , I have a 62 that has been painted many times. The last time I had pimples that had developed maybe 15 years after the last paint job. The new guy decided that they may have been from brake fluid contamination. It seemed right for me but now I see that other people have the same issue AND it's in the same spot as mine. It might even be vapors coming from under the affected area. Just a thought.
