question :factory replacement engine in a split.
My 63 has an engie block with correct suffix code of RC. The vin pad has never been stamped with a Vin. This seems to inicate a production line engine that was sent to a dealer for warentee or over the counter sale. The engine build date was after my 63 production line date, so is a warentee engine possible? any thoughts?
Any one know what NCRS thinks about this type of situation?

Welcome to the forums. Without the original numbers on the engine that match the body it can't be claimed to be all original car. Which makes it a bit less in value. Unless you can track down the original engine, but I'm sure its long gone by now. I'm not sure what you mean about a warranty engine?
Welcome to the forum.
I don't think it matters why the engine was replaced. As far as NCRS is concerned, I think they'll just deduct a certain number of points off of the total score for non-original engine. At one time there was a place you could rent the tool that was used to stamp the block at the factory. The last time I saw a mention of this was over 40 years ago. I also suspect that the NCRS has developed ways to detect that.
