74 heater core replacement
Welcome to the site, in all the years that i've wrenched on trucks, cars, bikes, ect., the C3 heater core was one of the more frustrating jobs. If your planning on having the dashboard and/or center console out for other work it would be the time to do the heater, also order a seal kit for the heater box.
I did it on my 73 about 30 years ago when I put factory air in. Best guidance I can give is to get a factory service manual and assembly manual for your year. Have fun.
Thanks for the input guys --
And you are both right. I finished the job last night - talk about frustration, this was one of the toughest challanges taken on in 30 years of wrenching with that car. The sad part is that I now plan to refresh all the bulbs and gages in the center cluster, so I will be opening her up again soon.

Wow -
The factory service manual hugely understates the complexity and difficulty of the heater core remove/replace process. You almost need to think like a GM engineer to read between the lines. Don't want to have to tackle that one ever again.
