74 Start Switch Reset

74 Start Switch Reset
I recently had some under dash work done to replace the heater core on my '74 and after two starts ran into a problem that the car would not start. After some trouble shooting, discovered the 'start' switch on the firewall above the starter. If I turn the key on and trip the switch, the ignition will run the starter. When I turn the key off, the switch trips out again and needs to be reset with the key on before being able to run the starter.
Is this coincidental that the switch might now need replacingwith the timing of the replacement on my heater core? Or is it more likley a short somewhere under the dash or center console causing the switch to reset? I've had the car since 1994 and have never had this problem. Currentlywith 52K,alloriginal and has been trouble free.
Any advise will be greatly appreciated. TJL74Vette

RE: 74 Start Switch Reset
Hi TJL74Vette, the "start switch under the hood" do you mean the seat belt override switch? Yes it could be bad, if you move the seats foward and reach under the rear you can disconnect that switch from the system. PG
