can i replace crossfire injection?
I have an 82 that I love.. keeping it all original is not a big concern to me. I want a good, consistant car with speed but doesnt have to be the fastest thing on the street. Can I replace the crossfire injection with a new fuel injected system? If so what is a good one that would match, what all would i need to replace, and what would i expect to pay? Ill take any help I can get,,thanks
Yes, fairly easy.
You can replace the xfire stuff with anything from simple throttle body style fuel injection (keeping the carb-style intake manifold), to really high tech ram-air multi-port injection systems. Check out Jegs, Edelbrock, Holley, and the other standard vendors in this space. Those three have excellent pre-sales tech support, and can chat with you to figure out where you are going, and how to get there. Examples:http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...45169_-1_10299

Phill definitely hits the nail on the head. Nothing beads a shiny new 4 bbl dumping dead dinosaurs down the intake.
1982 puts you at 25 yrs, which in most states will make you exempt from all that emissions crap... I mean stuff. [:'(] I looked at putting MPI into my 81, but with the cost, complexity, and lack of "really cool shiny carb to show off"... I went with a Holley 4150 instead.bill.

If and when I get my back together and sorted out, I plan to put the '65 Rochester FI back on. If you like to tinker, those units are a lot of fun.
