Default Update Cross-Fire Injection and water injection

I recently bought a fuel injection sytem from a 1985 corvette in hopes of updating my 1984 Corvette Cross-Fire injection system. I would like comments and suggestions about what is involved. Also I am thinking of puting on a Edelbrock water injection system...has anyone had experience in doing this?

what system is on the 85? i dont recall what years had which injection systems....my bggest concern with changing injection systems would be the engine control unit.

i thought 85 was TPI, but i wasnt sure...wouldnt the actual linkages be different as well, or did those come with the unit?

tshirttom and FLATLINE

Got no idea on your problem/question. But thought I would welcome you both to our new forum either way.

thanks for the welcome! But as far as changing the CF to TPI i'm not sure.. To my local knowledge those cars get converted to carb's with better success.

well, when going to a carb from FI of any kind of always easuer because there is no computer control to get in your way...

if you were changing the injection system and the ECU...i would think that it would be much easier than just the injection unit.

85 was the first year for the tpi fuel injection unit. I bought a used one and want to clean it up, put new gaskets on it and maybe install it next year. I was asked by my mechanic to find out if different heads were used and any other modifications that would be needed. I assume maybe a different wiring harness and computer but I don't know. seeking any help from someone who has made the switch.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions
Tom

what i would do.

call a chevy dealership parts dept, and tell them you are looking for a control unit for a 84, and an 85...or find a chevy tech who knows his stuff and ask him. i would have to think that with a change that significant, there would have to be a different feul management system and possibly wiring.
