First Gary, Welcome to CF.
Is there a "clunk" sound from the rear? If so, it could be the third member center support bushing is shot.
That's my guess!

Hey Gary,
Before you jump, an go buy that bushing, check out your rear end componants.

First!,Chock your front wheels!
Now jack up and put stands under the rear of frame. You want your suspension to hang free. Be sure that the e-brake is off and the trans in neutral. Now everything is loose.
Now you can get under and push, pull, and wiggle each componant. Inspect each componant at points of connection. (all nuts, bolts, etc.) Also take hold of your wheels, push and pull on the tops and bottoms, and sides.

Note any thing loose and go at it from there.
Dave

PS:
Use a floor or bottle jack to check the third member mounts. You only have to put enough pressure, to note if there is any movement. You don't want to take the weight off the jack stands. (bottle jack works best)

Question: Does the rear seem to move side to side, at all, when you take off from a stop?
