Default Factory Alarm Problem

Hello,

Just bought a '76 corvette. It's all stock and has a factory alarm. But when I go to activate it, it just goes off. I lock the doors and turn the key on the side to turn on the alarm, and then it goes off and won't stop till I turn the key again. Anyone know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Check the door switches and the hood switch (if it has one).

Could this switch be installed in the rear tail panel? My fathers car has a key switch in the tail light panel.

They moved the switch from the tail to the fender in 75 or 76. It sounds like your problem is either the door or hood switches or the relay may be stuck.

Did previous response on phone and didn't see your question. Answer is yes but you'd then have a hole in the fender to fill and paint.

I was wrong. They moved the alarm switch to the LF fender in '74 when they went to the rubber rear end. Not sure what your switch is but if it's connected to the alarm, then someone moved it. Check the inside of the front fender for a filled hole.
