Hey everyone! I'm new to this site. I have an '87 Vette. Every time I open the door the horn alarm starts going off. Car still runs great. Usually do all my own repairs but this one has me stumped. Any/all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Need a little more info. Is it every time you open the door, or just when you use the power locks?

On my 86, when you use the power locks to lock the doors, it enables the VATS system. With a door open, the security light is flashing, then after pressing the locks the security light will just be constantly on. For whatever reason the power locks doesnt lock the passenger door all the way, so i have problems when walking to the car with a friend and they try to open their door before i unlock the car...sets off the alarm.

raisinbran. Many, many thanks!!! You triggered a thought pattern. The problem started when I had locked the doors using the power lock button on the door. When I came back to the vehicle I reached inside the cracked window and pushed the unlock button rather than using the key to unlock the car. I just went out and used the key to lock then unlock the door. Problem solved!
