Here ya go fellas......THIS is the way I bought it. (Still sports the PO plates in these pics, got mine on the car now.) I'm fortunate to have a friend who owns a body shop who I am confident will do a great job, when he can get to it. His shop is always very, very busy, so I will have to wait my turn, but this isn't a project I would take on myself. So now....what do you think? Ugly now, but I think when it's done it will be a pretty car, and when I get some time I'll post some more pics.....the soft top is in great shape with a nice clear back window and as I mentioned, I also have the matching color hardtop which I believe adds value to the car. How many buyers wanted to spring for the added expense of a hardtop back in 1974, and how many of those cars survive today? PS: I also happen to really like the turbine style wheel covers, which seem to be a lot more rare than the usual trim rings/center caps seen so often. Btw, the car has 59,000 well documented miles, with the PO only adding 1000 of those over the last 13 years!

Thanks for the kind words! That means a lot, since I have seen some of your posts and your amazing collection! LOVE that latest big block roadster you found!

I have to concentrate on just this one car, but my intention is to get it back to being as nice as it can be!

It looks like your bumper covers are doing the same thing as mine is doing. Getting brittle, cracking, and breaking off. 😟

Actually bought it this way and didn't quite believe the story i was told when I inquired about how the damage happened. The 72 year old lady responded with "It just happened! One day it just broke!" (Front AND back??) But now that I'm hearing from you it does in fact just start to disintegrate, I guess I shouldn't have doubted the nice lady! I "guesstimated" about $2500 to replace and paint both bumpers...think I'm close? My body owns a body shop so he won't gouge me but he can't work for free, so I am just hoping it's within that ballpark. It looks like the back bumper cover is also missing the support brackets which I only realized later.

I think I paid about $300 for my NOS front bumper about 20 years ago. It's still soft and pliable but hasn't been out of the wrapper or painted yet. I originally was going to get a Tru-flex bumper cover until I read that "some fitting is required". I didn't want to invest that much of my labor in fitting it. You could talk to your buddy and see if there's enough of a cost differential between the two options to see if it would be cheaper to do the Tru-flex.
