Question Heater Core/WaterPump?

I recently acquired a 1980 Corvette. I've noticed I smell antifreeze inside car and the windows fog up when using heater or defrost. Seems to me to be heater core however carpet is not wet. Mechanic looked at it and said leak on ground is from front of car and he thinks it is water pump leaking. Why would leaky water pump fog up inside windows. I'm inclined to go with heater core. Any suggestions?

If your windows are getting fogged up and you smell antifreeze inside the cabin the heater core is almost certainly leaking. Have your mechanic pressurize the system and wait 15-20 minutes. Coolant will begin dripping from the heater box on the passenger side.

Thanks so much! I completely agree with you. I'm going to have it pressure tested as soon as I get it back from the paint shop!
