Oh boy, hope someone has a good hint here. Today I pulled on the hood release. Only one side popped. I pushed it back down and attemted to open again, now it wont open at all. Any ideas how to open externally? 1976 coupe

Not had the prob myself, but other posts say ya can reach it from under the car. Find the cable that crosses from side to side and pull it to open one side. Go up top, and with the one corner open, you can reach or hook the cable for the other side.That's what I've read. Sounds logical to me.

 

This has happened to me, but only one side. When the driver side popped I used a pair of chennel locks and pulled the wire...I was lucky. More important tho is the replacement cable I spend about $37.00 including shipping, was a cheap peice of junk and broke (the same as the first) after about six hood pops. I ended up repairing the original, which I should have done the first time. Anyway be careful if you have to replace the cable. Repro stuff sometimes is not so good.

 

Totally impossible to access from under the car. Recived some tips on another forum but cant make it work. Guess Im headed to the dealer or a vette shop nearby

A dealer won't have a clue go to a Vette Shop.

You might try having two helpers push down on the rear corners of the hood and then pull the hood release.

When only one side popped open, which side was it?
