im new here so i thought i would ask a few questions.

first, i got the car from my mom, i took it out and when i punched it, it hesitated then accelerated but not nearly as fast i would have though for a 427, i got back asked her and she said that when she took it to the shop they said that the 4 barrels wouldnt open but she forgets why.

second, the tack spedo and water temp gauge are all broke and fuses are good any suggestions?

thats all i can think of off the top of my head im sure there will be many more, thanks in advance

As for the carb, is it mechanical secondaries?

 

WELCOME!!!!! 1st- remove the air cleaner..disconnect the fuel line from the carb..look down the top of the carb as you are pulling the throttle linkage back..you should see the front 2 butterflies open and then the back 2 open as you pull the linkage completely back.. if the back 2 do not open at all then the four barrels are not working.. NEXT.. check the linkage to see that you are getting it pulled back as far as it can go..it is possible that the linkage is binding and not opening completely.. you may be able to adjust this problem...also..the throttle plate linkage to the back 2 barrels could be bent and not letting the four barrels open completely..try this and let me know how it goes there are other problems you could have depending on the type of carb..mechanical or vaccum secondaries...hope this helps and you have an easy fix......................Russ
