Hello Guys , sorry for delay I was not in the country and it was so hard to get online . I solved the problem . kindly note I ment our temp. in the summer about 55 *C I dont know what in Fehr. . Well when I swapped the engine with High Performance 350 I put a small radiator also not aluminum . I replaced it with an bigger aluminum rad and I put a chin spoiler solved the problem .

Guys its not acceptable to have 200* temp if you dont have a thermo.

you should put in a thermostat if you dont have one. just my .02

 

thats what I willget Robert Shaw (333-180) or Mr. Gasket (4364) thermostat as pg advice . Thank god the cooling systemis working .

 

Just a question, didn't you say that you were in a place where the weather is very hot? I'm in Texas where the summer temps get to 100 plus often, and I run a 160 degree thermostat in all and every small block chevy I've ever had out here. As was stated before on the site, not everyone likes the 160s as 180 is supposed to be, some say, a better or more favorableoperating temperature. I have found that on a sunny 100 degree day rolling down the highway, or in traffic, the gauge, using a 160 degree thermostat, goes above 160. My experience with a, I'm thinking it was, a 192 or 195, when I first had the car, had me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see if the needle would creep up another 32nd of an inch where the gauge would say that the engine was over heating.
In Jersey, the Big Apple or the likes, I'd say 180. In the heart of Texas or the likes, I'd say 160.
However, if you're not over heating and you're comfortable with the gauge reading, that's what counts.

Hi Texas Jim, you are 100% correct, you guage will show about 15* F higher than the T-Stat, once you are comfortable seeing 205* you no longer be on the edge of your seat, PG.

 

OH MAN!!!pg, 205!!!??? No thanks. I feel OK out here in Texas on a 100 plus degree day when the gauge reads 180 or 185. Then I know that I'm safe and that my engine is happy. If a problem occurs, I'll have enough time to shut-down prior to any damage being done. When the temp outside is so hot, bad things happen so quickly that they get out of hand before you know it. And if you're running the A/C too, Mother Nature is very quickly unforgiving. I'd feel differently back in New York.

 

Just had an epiphany. Remember another thing that can cause an engine to run hot, not enuf spark advance. Probably not a problem here but just thought of it as reading this thread.
