Default Removing Engine from 74

Getting ready to paint my 74 and figured I might as well paint the the engine and compartment.
Question is to pull the engine on a 74 do you need to remove the trans first or will it come out attached to the engine.

Not sure on your '74, but on my '80 there is a non-removable crossmember that prohibited pulling the engine with tranny atached. I would have had to remove the whole front clip.
The same issue going back in, instal the engine w/o tranny, have the tranny already in place.

Engines out and now plenty of cleaning up and painting to do.
Also need to replace front springs and and all bushings and shocks.
By the time I get done the car will cost me a lot more then it's worth.
Anyway it will be a real nice driver.

Indeed you need to do proper cleaning of engines ,irrespective of any version. And yes being a good driver is also necessary for long lived engines.

Vet is almost all back together.
Had to replace some steering and rear suspension parts.
I was sweating the traing arms but they seem to be ok for now.
Waiting for back ordered Hooker sidepipes to come in so I can get the car aligned before painting.
Didn't realize it cost $350 -$500 to align the front and rear of a C3

Maybe the '80 frame is different than my '73, but I pulled my engine/tranny together. I did remove the radiator/condenser tho. Engine tilter was a definite plus too.
