Thompson Astro Top

RE: Thompson Astro Top
I currently have one on my 79. I have had no problems with it. I know in the past people have had problems with the Astro top leaking. I bought mine recently and have driven in the rain with no problems. They claim it fits behind the seat, well it does, JUST barely. I bought the storage bag which I think is a must so you don't scratch the top. I didn't have glass T-Tops so I am really enjoying the open feeling it gives.

RE: Thompson Astro Top
I waited a couple weeks to respond to this one, as I just installed my Astrotop. No leaks for me, fits great. They use a softer and larger weatherstrip than the stock tops, which helps to fill in the gaps nicely. I don't really like the thumbscrew arrangement on the front for attaching through the old post holes, but having a fresh top makes the hassle of screwing on/off worth it. The rear of the Astrotop is held on by a padded plexi block, tightened into place with another set of thumbscrews. It doesn't look too sturdy, but seems to work just fine. Summary, for the price, they definitely rock. Here is a pic from before I took off the protective film:
Definitely get the storage bag. My daughter knocked mine over in the garage while I was out driving around and gave it a nice scratch.
