Default Trailing arm bushing replacement

I'm replacing the trailing arm bushings on my 1971. I got the old bushings out except for what I'll call the "cups" that are still in the trailing arm. Instead of pounding these out, can I put the new rubber part of the new bushing and new center part in the old "cup" in place? I've read that the rubber component does the work. Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

You not only need to remove that piece, you will need the special tool to compress the bushing while you flare over the tube that keeps it all intact. That tool can be purchased online from Corvette aftermarket suppliers.
