Default value of '70 ZR1?

I was wondering what the value of a 1970 ZR1 is. I have a relative who owns one. Also, I wanted to know how many horses it has.

Did they start the ZR1 in 1990?

I believe there were ZR-1s & ZR-2s in 1970 & 1971*. One was a big block (ZR-2) (1971 only) and one was a small block (ZR-1). There weren't very many of them (8 ZR1s & 12 ZR-2s in 1971)* so they are probably pretty expensive especially the ZR-2s. If I remember correctly, they had a bumblebee stripe around the nose. The ZR-1 was a SCCA B-class car based on the LT-1 (370 hp) and the ZR-2 was based on the LS-6.

Things to look for to confirm are M22 "rock crusher" transmission, F41 suspension w/ 7-leaf rear spring and HD sway bars, & J56 HD brakes (dual pin calipers).

* Another source says ZR-1s were sold in 1972 also and there was a total of 53 for all three years (25, 8 & 20).

This is the Muncie tranny (supposedly very loud) that was used in the L88 monster - 68 I believe, rated by some at 550 HP. Although 'marketed' at 450. Never was a true 'production' vehicle...

EDIT
Wrong again... listed at 430HP, believed closer to 600.

6,500 PRM, 12.5:1 squeeze. How much fuel do ya think is goin' through there?

It was loud because it had straight cut gears to make them stronger for high torque engines (read big block). I think it was optional on any car tho.

In 69 there was one ZL1 Corvette built. All aluminum 427 with an M22. There were 69 ZL1 Camaros built in 1969. They also had the all aluminum 427 and M22's or the TH400 auto trans.

The M22 ws an option in all Corvettes in 68, 69, 70 and 71. It was an option for the 68, 69 & 70 Camaro SS and Z28's. It got it's name, Rock Crusher, from the whine it gives out. The gears are straight cut instead of helical cut. It can take alot more abuse than the M20 or M21. I have an M22 in the wife's 69 SS Camaro. It is loud!
