1989 Bose problem
Hi guys, new member. I have an 89 with the Bose system. The speakers all appear to be intact (not sure about the amps though) but I only get (not great) sound out of one speaker. The head unit that came with the car is a Pontiac unit with cd that is not compatible with the Bose system. Would replacing the head unit with a correct Bose one likely fix my problem? Or would it be better to just go full aftermarket?
Since each one of the Bose speakers has a built-in amplifier, I'm not sure just any head unit would work with them. A good source of information would be to talk with Crutchfield because they have various things that can perhaps adapt for that problem.
Thanks, I guess what I'm asking is if anyone knows what the effect of using a non-compatible head unit is? I know the head unit in my car is not compatible with the speakers/amps. So I'm trying to figure out if putting the correct head unit in might fix the problem or if it'd be better at this point to replace the entire system with a more modern system. I'll talk to crutchfield and see what they have to say!
