Default 1992 Exhaust

I was wondering which exhaust is the best for a 92 LT1. I was thinking of getting Borla or magnaflow since ive heard those are the best.

Borla is just popular. One of the most expensive but not the best. Once again, GM did a pretty good job on the LT1 exhaust. Its one of the most free flowing exhaust GM ever put on a car. I would just have the mufflers cut off and the tips welded back on. I think you will be happy with sound. The aftermarket exhausts, and this includes just about all of them, have resonance and/or drone issues. If your still interested check out B & B (Billy Boat) andCorsa.

The factory exhaust is very efficient, but it lacks in what I would call a "muscular" sound, That is why leesVette is suggesting you do a "muffler elimination". Personally I put a Corsa system on mine because of the resonance issue that LeesVette brought up. The Corsa system has ZERO resonance at any speed, and I like the sound. B&B systems are known for the resonance that they produce.

This post is dead on. Exactly what I was implying.

Well, I gotta disagree.... I put Borla on my 90 and I love it. Get the cat-back system
and be careful not to get the touring model (too quiet). The Stinger is the more aggressive.

Really like mine.

I just replaced my factory exhaust on my 95 with a kit from Corvette Central. It is a chambered exhaust, and i opted for the muffler eliminators, so there is no muffler at all. It has a very aggressive sound, but its not overlyloud in the cockpit. i only paid 525.00 with shipping and everything. It took only a few hours to install it my self. http://www.corvettecentralexhaust.com/c4perfcham.htm

95 trplblkandtan ,Did you put the cats. back on or leave them off? I thought they might lower the sound w/o taking away from the performace?

I would recommend the Corsa system. I put it on my 96 LT4 CE and I love it, nice muscle sound when you want it and not too loud when you don't. Got it from Curious George, used to be on his '92 but he passed it along once he upgraded to a C5 which has a Corsa system as well. He still has the '92 which is a good solid car that needs paint if anyone is lookin' to pick one up.

The system is a cat back, so i left them on. Like i said i am very pleased with the sound, but if you want an even more aggresive sound you can also get a straight pipe cat back. its only like 350 bucks. There are all kind of options from that web site.
