1993 brake issue
I have a 1993 corvette and I just recently took it in to have the brakes looked at because I am hearing that "squeeking" sound that brakes normally make when they need to be replaced. They said that the brakes had plenty of wear left on them and they are not sure why it is making that sound. If I am going between 0 and 20 mph, I can still hear that sound even when I am not pressing the brake and then of course when I brake the sound is loud and annoying. If anyone has any advice on what the problem might be I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks, Will

Hi,my friend. If you fell YOU have a problem with your brakes, then have a competent shop replce them.Maybe even have them turn the rotors,if you don't feel like replacing them. Also, always check your brake lines and maybe go to the stainless steel lines I put on my '96.If you do think about upgrading your brakes, well,Baer brakes has this killer set called "Decelarotors".You already have 17's on your car, right?Well, you can upgrade to the big 13" for the front and the 12" for the rear, like I did.Cross-drilled AND slotted, and they do look great andstop my car better.Just never forget,my friend, when it comes to brakes,NEVER,EVER,skimp,ok?Your friend,Joe.By the way,the whole set of those Baer brakes runs for about $500.It's worth it,trust me!!
Assuming they checked your brakes all the way around, then what you are hearing is squealing caused by a buildup of brake dust impacted in your brake pads. Were the rotors machined the last brake job you had? They probably need to be turned to break the glaze and clean your pads thoroughly with some brake clean spray. [8D]
