383 stroker set up
Hello all..Im not new to the corvette scene but i have strayed some tinkering with some other toys..Now its time to get back to the baby...Im getting ready to go with a 383 carb set up on my 84. After years of struggling and shelling out money in vain i figured i would go this route. Any one have any suggestions set up wise..IM leaning towards a 383 set up but if anyone has any other ideas like a 355 ci set up or anything like that i would love to hear the input. If anyone has a 383 set up could you give me a few tips on the lil things that i would need.
thanks
thanks
as a former dirt track racer i have had a couple of 383's and a 383 is not a bad choice but to make a 383 you use a 400 crank offset ground to 350 mains the block you choose will need to be board .030 over if using a hypercast piston i would go to .033 over but i would do a forge piston anyhow, because of the 400 crank you will need a 400 balancer and a 400 flywheel unless you go to a internal balanced 383 crank. you can make just as much HP with a 355 but the 383 would have more torque. eithier way you go i would use a set of brodix track 1 heads, a brodix low profile intake (so it fits under the hood) a roller cam roller lifters doug herbert has these at a real good price. some roller rockers, stock rods will be fine, 10:1 comp pistons 650 cfm carb you will have one nice engine good luck either way you go
