84 ENGINE QUIT........HELP!!!
I have determined the problem with my 1984 Vette is bad premium gas from Murphy Oil/Wal-Mart. I syphoned all the gas from the tank that I could (app. 12-13 gallons from full tank) then drained lines at the fuel filter on frame (about a gallon). I got my wife to turn engine over and also turn ignition off for electric fuel pump to drain all it could until battery went down. Fuel gauge still shows half a tank. How can I drain all the gas without removing gas tank?
I would try to siphon the rest the same way you did the first half of the tank, you need to get the siphon hose all the way to the bottom of the tank and keep it there somehow in order to get as much fuel out as possible. I was going to suggest trying to use the fuel supply line to siphon but it probably won't go through the pump. If all else fails you could contact the gas station, tell them your going to have it towed and repaired at their cost. Sorry about the misdiagnosis on your first post about this issue, I wasn't aware that you already tried the good gas down the throttle body and achieved ignition. Good luck, keep us informed.
