85 headlight problems

Default 85 headlight problems

My 1985 corvette coup drivers headlight will not come up when lights are turned on,but when you manual put headlamp up and turn switch off light will go back down can anyone help me troubleshoot this problem . Is it a relay or plastic gears in motor

Sounds like the 'screw' gear, which turns the 'wheel' gears. It has 'play' in it, by design, so that at the end of the light rotation, when it can't rotate any more, the 'screw' gear moves upward (or downward), to make an electrical contact and stop the turning of the screw gear.

Confused? It was explained differently recently - ya' just gotta' find the other post.

Found the problem it was the small contact in the motor that was not making contact straghten out and it works but will have to buy new motor not sure how long it will last

You mean the shut-off contact of the worm gear like shiver was describin'? Got a pic?

I gotta pull mine tomorrow or the next day or so...
