Default Headlight problems?

Every once in a while I have a problem with my headlights turning on and flipping up.... I can sit there and keep switching it on and they will eventually come up... It has never not came up for me but I cant figure out why this is happening??? If anyone has any ideas or has had a similar problem PLEASE let me know!

From my archives:
"From the outside of the car , turn the head lights on and listen for the little headlight motor and see if its running when you turn the headlights on .

If you hear the motor spinning but the headlights dont go up , its the plastic gears .

If you dont hear the motors running then its the controller box ."

and

"There are only three components to the headlamp system as such. Motors, headlamp switch and the headlamp controller. Most of the time, the motor gears have failed. Second most failed item is the headlamp multifunction switch. In rare cases, water gets into the headlamp controller resulting its failure."

and

"A buddy who is a GM service manager told me to check the relay (#44) that controls the headlamp "up / down" operation. It's located in the passenger footwell electrical center. He said there are 2 relays there... #44 and #45. 44 operates the headlamps and 45 the fogs....he told me to swap them and keep an eye on the fogs to see if they work intermittently. If the fogs act up at all, replace the faulty relay and problem solved."
