I have found that when I take off hard or under high rev. shiftswhen the engine is hot or cold that the it pings like crazy. I have not had any codes and the motor has been setup to factory specs. so to past emisions. I also run 92 or higher octane and perfer not to rely on additives. Will the Knock sensor go badw/o setting a code out?

Knock sensor failurePROBABLY would set a code.
Are you sure the timing was set correctly?
Does the engine burn oil?
Are spark plugs the correct heat range?
Any engine modifications?
