My right side headlight is giving me fits! The gear and bushings are new the motor is original. When I open the lights the right side comes up half way -- a quick off & on of the switch and it will fully open same with closing. Now with the hood in the open position the light opens and closes in one motion. There is no binding that I can see and both lights are adjusted the same. Is my motor causing this?? Any ideas will help. By the way the left side works perfect every time.

Hey Doc, I realize your post is old but I’m having essentially the same problem on a ‘96, except:
I just got the car from a friend who passed, and the right light would open as designed, but wouldn’t close. I replaced the gear and it now only opens half way - unless the hood is raised 50% or more. I see no binding or other issues. The left headlight works as designed. Saw no replies and was wondering what the outcome was. Thanks

Doubt Doc is still around. Interesting problem. Might have a friend raise the hood in increments while you cycle the switch in order to ascertain the position of the hood that seems to affect the headlight operation.
