Another newbee question?????
Clean/cool air is integral to your system. The more of both, usually the better.
I have a K&N air filter but have not installed yet. Doubt I will feel results but you know what
they say, it's all between your ears. Fairly cheap upgrade.

you didn't give the year of the Corvette so I will try. If you have aMAF system the computer will probably see the air increase and it will probably add fuel properly. If you have a MAP systemthe air flow is not measured directly but the computer estimates the airflow based on stock parts. Map equipped cars require alot more changing calibration at the computer. This is probably why you will see different results from different Corvette's on the forum.
hope this helps

Dale personally I would go with just the filter but I am cheap. The induction system are high priced but they do soundgood and arenice looking. The MAF will compensate for ether. Dale its your call
good luck
