Cooling Fan
Hi all
It appears that my cooling fan is coming on and not shutting off when the coolant temp comse down. The air is not on. This has caused the battery to drain down once already. What should I look for relay or what?

RE: Cooling Fan
Welcome Mikenann you certainly came to the right place for info but for anyone to respond and look intelligent they would have to have a little basic info namely the year of the car.
Just as an opener you can most likely do a search right hereand find the codes for your car and how to access them.
I think I have the link and will look for it .
I'm at work my vette is 450 miles away in bed in the garage.
There are several things that could be causing the problem the most expensive would be the computer but most likely it's a relay or your coolant temp. sensor.
Also it could be a short in a wire or connector.
Do the codes first then look closely at your wires at the fan and look for signs of someone using a probe that broke the plastic insulation on the wires looking for voltage..
Also look for melted insulation in the wires going to the fans.
Some c-4 relays are attached to your radiator cover driver side.
Good hunting and push your AC off switch several times as they go bad too.
Hah I was right , had it in favorites ! If yours is OBD2 pre 96 save the link or most books have it.
