Why do you call autos slush boxes? Is that good or bad?

I refer to the fluid drive, as opposed to gear drive. Personally I don't like "Slush Boxes", wouldn't have another one. I feel that they are slow on the takeoff, and I have destroyed a few by manually shiftin' them. I like to pick my own shift points. I feel I have better control with a Gear Box.Went through 3 S.B.'s in my '70 Road Runner, in two years.
But some people swear by them, I, personally, swear at them.
And when it comes to the twisties, there is no comparison. I use gears, not brakes. Automagics won't give me the engine compression responce I like. Too much free wheelin'. With the direct drive of gears, I can feel the cars responce better.
This is all my personal opinion, run what ya like.

OOO. Id like to do a manual conversion but I know that would cost 6,000 and theres no way I could afford that for atleast 10 years.Your lucky. Yea, I wish I couldve got one though its just to hard to find one here and plus all the early ones are sucky from what I understand because everyone wanted automatics...Thats just what I heard though so I dunno...Im on my "third tranny" Original blew out, got a second used one it blew out then I got the original one rebuilt so its back in....Manuals are alot less hassle because its manual and not computer operated plus its alot cheaper too and better on gas IMO. Have you noticed if you take say a automatic and a manual that have the SAME aftermarket exaust and the manual is louder? Do you think so or am I just imagining it...I swear that manual is louder...

Manual or auto, makes no dif in sound, it's the exhaust system. Some are single and others dual. Dual preforms better.
6g's for a conversion? Better look around Bro, you can find the pedles and hangers, flywheel and clutch assembly, bell, tranny and drive line for around 2g's of less.
Try these guys, it's a Vette wreckin' yard, and they will ship to you. I got a steering colum from them. www.pacvette.com

You're still young dude, take the bull by the horns and learn how to fix your own Vette, you'll save thousands in labor over the years.
Prob enough to buy a new Vette!

Nothin' a little knowledge and experiance won't take care of. You won't learn it, 'til ya do it. Get a manual and some tools, jump in and go for it. You'll feel better too, knowin' that YOU did it yourself. We'll help ya all we can.
