Default Check LTPWS?

My 1989 Convertable with the L-98 had the Service Engine Soon light come on while at cruise, then after a few minutes the message "Check LTPWS" came on. The car was running nomally although a little hotter than usual at cruise, 210 Degrees,. Can anybody tell me what is the problem? Thanks

The check LTPWS light is regarding low tire pressure. Our's ('89 convertible like yours) has that light coming on every once in awhile - usually when we first take it back out in the Spring. Everytime we checked the pressure when that came on - there was no problem.

Ours is a '90 convertible and that Check LTPWS light comes on every time I drive it. I've only had her for a year and the light was on for the previous owner. too.
Looking at the receipts for work done in the past there are several from a couple different shops trying to fix the problem. It seems none of them have been able to figure out why the light comes on. The obvious work has been done (tire pressure matched between tires, the Low Pressure Warning system checked, etc)and the final answer was that there is a physical size difference between the two back tires (very small) that after the tires heat up causes the light to come on.

I'm not sure I buy that answer, but nothing else is wrong with the car (except the Bose radio is on it's last leg).

My last Vette was a '67 and it didn't have all the "gee whiz" stuff the '90 does. I've been readiing the Forum for over a year now and this is the first time I've seen this problem mentioned. Is it rare or is it one of those things people don't talk about in public?

Keep the wave alive
