i just replaced them with 24lb motorcrafts, by chance do you think that the air pump could be causing it to lean out?

also what is the plastic ball that is next to the smog pump? I hit something on the highway and it ripped my inside fenderwell out as well as that ball. Is it okay to drive without it?

That black ball is the vacumn reserve tank for the cruise control. If it's cracked it is giving you a vacumn leak. I'd pinch off the hoses as a temporary fix
