Default Crazy Lights

A wild thing today. My '86 Vette is sitting in front of office and all of a sudden the right headlight opens iand is on. The dash off and on switch has no effect. I disconnected the battery and touched post back and forth and light finally closed. Left lamp was burning but not open. Did it again and went thu same. This time I turned off and on about 20 times. Both light but left won't open. Haven't had any prob before. I don't drive much at night and haven't used lights for a couple months. I wonder what's going on Any one ever saw lights come on without switch. Any help would be great. Thanks Charlie

Check all grounds and plugs for anything loose or damaged. If not pull the light switch and break out an Ohm meter and check all the functions. It might have suffered from a short orhave overheated once, making the connections insideloose. Yes, I have seen this on other vehicles, and was from overheating from a short in a damaged harness. This should be a good start. Good luck and write back if you kill this bug.

I looked through NHTSA recalls, and there was recall on '86 vettes for defective switches.I myself own a '86 and have not had a problem. The recall affected 93317 cars. Good Luck.
