Dead Vette
Ok I need some help about an hour or so ago I was driving down the road and my car started to cut out like it was going to die, I ate lunch and was driving back to work and it started doing the same thing and this time it died for good. I turns over and you can hear the fuel pump running but it will not start. The symptoms seem to be ignition related to me from my previous experiences with cars but I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated. I have a hunch maybe it is the ignition module.

'92 eh? Those puppies have Opti-Spark on 'em, don't they? Are you in a wet area right now, or perhaps some water splashed up under your hood? I had a ton of problems with moisture on my Opti-Spark on my Camaro years ago... sometimes when left to dry out for a bit, it would work again, but eventually ended up replacing the unit.
I am sure more knowledgeable folks will pipe in with more detailed and/or more useful suggestions from here....

I went out to check some things after having my car towed to my house and it started right up. We hooked up a pressure guage to the fuel rail and it is reading 39psi and increased to 46 with about 1/3 throttle and settled back to 39 at steady rpm. I'm not sure what the pressure should be though, this stupid chiltons manual might be as useful as book with no words. Any help on the correct fuel pressure would be appreciated. Oh and we ran the car for about 30 min. in the garage and it ran fine and idled smooth, I am afraid to drive it because I dont want to be towed again.

New to the forums and the 'vette ownership club, but do these cars have a speed sensor driven by the speedo gear in the trany?I had a 4runner that gave me the same type of trouble and after spending hundreds of dollars on things that were not bad it turned out to be a $24.89 plastic gear at the trany end of the speedo wire.

I would be suspicious of the ignition coil. Coils can start giving up after they are hot and after cooling down work just fine. Go to a local parts store and get you an inline spark checker to carry with you if it dies again. Still could be a problem with optical pickup in the distributor. Probably gonna take some digging to diagnose this one, sorry to say. Intermittants are always hard to run down. [:@]
