Default Fuel injectors

I seem to be having a problem with my fuel injector or injectors. One or more seem to be stuck open. Dummping fuel into my cylinders. I am getting blue smoke out of the exhaust. At first I thought I had a cracked head but with further investigation I dont. BUt I noticed that the fuel is just dummping and oil is comming out with it out of the exhaust manifold. This is where the blue smoke is coming from. Before it washes out my cylinders and causes a serious problem. Does anyone know of a test I can do to see which injector or injectors is stuck open. I have tried unpluging them. That dont work. Or I just dont have the right ones unplugged at the right time. Or I have to many screwed up right now. They are original so they are about due for replacement. I have a 1991 L98 smal block 350. Any ideas before I take it in for a diagnostics test.

Default RE: Fuel injectors

I would, first, go to a local auto parts and purchase a noid light that fits your injector harness. Unplug one of your suspect injectors and plug the light into the harness and start the car. Watch the light @ idle and see if it pulses. If it seems to stay on constantly, you might have other problems, such as coolant sensor, map sensor, causing the ECM to open injector pulse width to much. You might need someone to do an injector balance test, which requires pressure gauge and injector tester. Unplugging them 1 at a time usually won't help because the L98 is not a sequencial port fuel injected engine. It fires the injectors left bank, then right bank. Does your car black smoke also at idle, sure sign of to rich condition. Also, check codes, which you probably get some rich codes and maybe O2 codes, but I would be more interested in fuel control codes, such as the items I listed earlier. Also check your fuel pressure, have seen fuel pressure regulators go bad, either causing high fuel pressure or leaking into vacuum control line. Good Luck![8D]
