hard starting when cold
I,am a weekend driver of an 88 corvette so the car pretty much sits all week, but after it sits for a long time 2-?? days it is hard to start but as soon as it starts, and if you shut it off again it will first crank there after just woundering if anybody had any comments
You may want to put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see if it is holding good fuel pressure while turned off. If the fuelpump is getting weak it will gradually bleed off fuel that is in the lines back to the tank. Thus after sitting for lengths of time the car must pump fuel all the way back to the intake.
Never had the problem on a vette but have had several GM trucks with that problem. Hope it helps !!

It is very possible. The last truck I worked on was a 98 GMC Sierra. The truck had to be started with starting fluid for weeks, but it would run perfect once started. Eventually the pump gave up and not even starting fluid would crank it up. By the way starting fluid is not a great idea touse often.Eventually it takes its toll!!

Can't remember if an 88 has a cold start injector, but if it does I would look in that direction first. You might have a thermotime switch that is bad. Thermotime switch is in the front of the intake manifold pointing at the radiator. [8D]
I just got back from getting my car tuned today, and I have the same problem. It was addressed at my tune and the mechanic said that it is more than likely my fuel pump. Its just old and giving out. Which, I have a 94 and if mine is going out, it could be quite possible that your 88 is biting the dust as well. I looked up prices and I dont remember but it didnt seem too expensive.
