Looking at an 85 super hard clutch
Hey guys I’m looking at an 85 to use as a daily driver. It’s a decent car but it has some quirks. Major one being that the clutch is insanely hard to press and keep down. Meaning it’s pressing very hard back against your foot. I’ve driven many high hp cars with much more than this 85 has and I’ve never get a clutch that hard. It shifts fine it just has crazy pressure.
theres other things too but that’s the main one. E brake does nothing. Previous owner did a really half assed horn install and wiring. Gauge cluster only half lights up and it flickers like crazy. The steering wheel colum wiggles up and down. Not sure what that’s about. Any help or advise would be great. Car has approx 88k miles.

Thank you, yes it’s hydraulic. I have a built 69 charger and the clutch is not even in that ballpark for pressure. That’s mechanical though. I have a 16 hellcat challenger too and the clutch isn’t in that ballpark either. I like the car but the clutch makes it unlivable. My guess is that’s why he’s selling it also.

Besides the heavy clutch, another reason I would steer away from it would be the fact that someone has been under the dash messing with all the factory wiring. My experience has been that can be a source of never-ending headaches.

Probly a good call. I could get it for 3k if I want but like you said could be a huge source of problems. He said he’s only had it a few weeks. I’m guessing he’s finding more problems than he wants to deal with and trying to get out of it.
