cwb, Joe, and Repodude, thanks for your replies.

My current goal is to remove the opti and clean it out. Cwb, the car was running perfect before the incident with the broken coolant hose, so my current problemcould either be coolant contamination or damage from overheating. I don't see what else it could be. Joe, I would prefer to replace all the items you mentioned, but frankly I'd rather see if this works first before shelling out more $$.

I now have the water pump removed andhave removed the bolt holding the crankshaft torsional damper. Chilton recommends I loosen the motor mounts so I can tilt the motor and use a special tool to remove the damper. Repodude, you mentioned in an email that you didn't have to do this to remove the damper. Would you provide me with some details on how you did this and what tools you used? I considered using a crow bar, but there isn't a safe (as in nearly unbreakable)surface to use leverage.

If I can remove my opti and clean it really good, then we'll see if it fixes the problem or not. Obviously if not, I'll take Joe's advice to the bank.

If you have all that apart you might as well but a new opti on it. I guarantee you going to have problems with that opti if you got coolant in it.

Hello,my friend.Considering the high miles on your car, have you thought of giving it a complete tune up? You know, the whole shebang? Right now it's possible your opti-spark could be water logged.I say replace it,along with putting a new water pump in since you have to remove the old one to get to the opti-spark.Do all that as well as your plugs and wires and do a radiator flush and, well, but I go on.You get the idea.Check everything including all your sensors and replace them as needed as well. You never know,it might end up running a lot better than before.Hope this helps and welcome to the forum.Good luck.Your friend,Joe.
Fully Automatic Assault Wallet.[sm=shootshoot.gif][sm=violent053.gif]Spray a volley of parts downrange, and hope you hit the target in the process. Pop in a couple of banana clips too.

Yup! Complete tune up. Get the .357 magnum air freshener too!

im sure that the coolant caused the opti fryyy[:'(], and when did you make sure all of the air was out of the cooling system(i know it sounds stupid but some people over look stuff like this) and im not sure on the two temp readings good luck
