i am fixing to go look at a 1984 vette that has been modified from a c4 body to a c 5 body kit what does this mean? and does it affect the value of it and also it looks like it has a round air cleaner on it is this normal or not ?any thing else i need to look at please let me know thanks

If the owner indicated the car has been modified from a C4 to a C5, then that means body wise it looks like a 1997 to 2004 Corvette. That could affect the value to a person if wanting to buy a stock C4 and not a modified one, but that is ones opinion. I am puzzled if the engine has a round air filter as this was on C3 Corvettes and not on the 1984 to 1996 C4's. If it does have a round air filter, then maybe the C4 is more modified than you think. Ask a lot of questions and take your time looking at the car. It is all about what you want in a Corvette. I am more a stock person. I hope others can provide help on this subject as well. i added a pic of the engine is this what you were talking about i was thinking 84 air filter looked different for some reason or am i wrong also is 84 fuel injected or tbi set up

 

Hey 94yj, and welcome to the forums. The 84 had crossfire injection (tbi), and the original air cleaner wasn't round. You can do a google search for 84 Corvette pictures and see what the air cleaner is suppose tolook like. That does look pretty cool under the hood though.

 

That sure looks like a C4 hood and headlights to me. Could youpost more pictures, especiallyof the body so we can seebetter what you are talking about. And that air cleaner makes the engine look like it is carburated.

'84 c7? must be a typo. I figure ya mean an '84 C4 to a C5 body.
As far as value, that's up to you. It's not original which takes away from the value. If someone wants a C5, they'll be looking for a C5, that's all C5. If it's the car you want, that's fine. Just don't expect people to be knocking down your door if and when you decide to sell it.
