Default Newbie Question-running warm

I want to replace the thermostat on my 86" corvette to a 160 degree thermostat and was wondering if the throttlebody has to be removed to change it or will there be enough clearance without removing it Thanks!

it's not necessary to remove the throttlebody. i changed a few and had just enough room.

Not too hard unless you have fat crooked knuckles like me...but I still was able to do. Go for it!

And welcome to the site. Don't forget the wave. Cheers

Changing your t-stat to a 160 degree might affect performance. TPI are designed to run 195 - 205 heat range. Fuel injection and combustion is more effecient at that temp.

It did mine. I put in a 160 T-stat and lost a little. put the 195 back in and it runs great. They make chips to go along with the 160 T-stat but I didn't change that. May make a difference but the car runs great like it is so....

Would I benefit from changing my thermostat to 180degree thermostat ,the last time I drove the vette I saw temps of 210 degrees and both fans were working properly and it wasnt on a warm day.it only has 28,300 miles on it

I kinda doubt it. You might need to get the radiator cleaned. If you take it out, have it rodded.
