Default Oil Change light question

on my 1994 vette, the change oil light came on, I should still have about 600miles left before the suggested mileage comes up by the oil change sticker. Is there any way to turn light off? Does the car have a different oil change milage or usage counter ? Any help?
Thanks
Dale

Dale,
I have a 95 which I am assuming would be the same. If you did not reset the change oil light at your last oil change then it can come on any time. To reset: turn key to on-engine should not be running, press the ENG/MET button, then within 5 seconds press and release the ENG/Met button again, then within 5 seconds press and hold the GUAGES button, the CHANGE OIL light should flash, hold the GUAGES button until the CHANGE OIL light stops flashing and goes out! (Haynes Repair Manual 1984 thru 1996)
