Question about Motor Oil
I was reading in the review forums about royal purple and Amsoil, is there anything wrong with using "normal motor oil" that is used at oil change places. I have a 1994 vette with 69,000 miles, first chevrolet and first car with more than 6 cylinders. I appreciate any help.
Thanks

RE: Question about Motor Oil
Hello again,Dale...Joe here with you.I do believe all LT-1 Vettes require Mobil-1 fully synthetic motor oil. Now,I know there a few brands out there that can be just as good, but if I were you,I'd stick with Mobil-1.My Vette ('96) has a tad over 114,000 trouble-free miles, and,I promise you,it's very possible that oil has a lot to do with it.Remember,if you can stick with what the factory recommends, you should have no problem.Just change it at least every 4,500 miles, like I do..it's pricier than most, but we havean investment we want to keep safe and sound, don't we?? Good luck to you,my friend.Joe.

RE: Question about Motor Oil
I have used Castrol GTX 30 in all my vehicles for years. When I have changed valve cover gaskets, niceclean rocker assemblys. I've gone over 200K miles on a couple of 'em, and everything is fine. Sometimes goin' up to 5k miles between changes.
( I always do all filters at the same time, oil, 2 fuel, andair. )
