Default Replacing Fuel injectors myself

So, my '89 auto will not start and the crankcase oil has fuel in it. I tested the ignition system and it is working perfectly, all spark plugs are firing. I tested the fuel pressure and it holds 39ish' psi when powering the fuel pump at the test connector under the dash. I also checked the fuel flow at the fuel rail and it is ok. The car normally does not even fire or try to, i replaced the plugs and it runs very roughly for a breif second (only with me fethering the throttle, will it even try to run) and then quits and will not start agian. So sounds like leaking fuel injectors right? The car was not drove much this winter so im guessing there is some kind of build up in the injectors from the fuel sitting there.
So, anyways, I was looking at the intake plenum and wondering if you can remove the fuel rail(s) assembly (regulator/injectors/rails) buy just removing the upper part of the intake plenum and leaving the lower "runners". It looks like when you pull up on the fuel assembly the lower runners might trap the assembly ????? anybody done this before??? Im trying to avoid removing the lower runners and the valve covers. ADVICE PLEASE!!!
Thanks in advance
noobe Cameron

I had the exact same problem in my 86. Would not start, there was fuel in the crankcase oil. Turned out i had a faulty ECM that was giving constant voltage to the injectors (they were open all the time). Dont waste money on new injectors if thats what you think is the problem. They are expensive, and i think you're supposed to replace them in sets of 4, not just one at a time.

If you do decide to replace the injectors, go ahead and take the runners completely off. Its not that big of a deal, and you will have the gaskets too since they come in sets. you shouldnt have to remove the valve covers to do so.

I tend to think it is something other than injectors. One or two go bad, and the car runs lousy, but seldom do noeugh go bad to make it not run at all. Check controls, ECM, wiring, etc., before replacing all the injectors.

If you can go to an auto parts store that sells a noid light to test injector pulse, try that. Unplug one of your injectors or several and plug in the noid light. Have someone spin the engine over and watch the light. It should pulse brightly, if it stays on and doesn't pulse, you have other problems. Then you need to have someone scan the car with a scan tool to see if you have other problems.
