spark failure

Default spark failure

i have a 92 vette. anyone know what it feels like when your low on gas and your car cuts out under full acceleration? well i have a full tank of gas and its still doing it. it drives just fine if i drive it slowly. i had this problem before and it was the coil. well i changed that out again and its still does it. im hoping its just a bad coil. if this has happened to anyone before please lemme know b4 i spend to much money figurnig it out. thanx

You said that it feels like it runs out of gas when you give it gas but if you drive it slow it does just fine. It seems to me that you may have a fuel starvation problem. Like when the car requires more gas, it runs out because your fuel pump isn't working properly. I don't really see it being a coil problem because usually, or I should say, in my experience, they either work or they don't work. I would investigate the fuel delivery system also. This is my two cents because a while back I had the same type of problem you have now and it turned out to be my fuel pump.

Also, check for spark. You didn't mention that you had done that. If you have and there is weak or no spark then disregard my previous post. Good luck and post back when you find the problem. I'm curious.

Simple, have you checked your fuel filter. Remove it and see if you can blow through it. If so, Clayton is probably right, the fuel pump might not be able to keep up. Check your fuel pressure, if you have a fuel pressure gauge, the engine fuel rail has a test port to screw the gauge on to check f/pressure. If I'm not mistaken, you should have around 35 - 45 lbs of fuel pressure and should maintain that under acceleration. Also can check it by throttling engine with gauge attached. If pressure drops or doesn't climb a little, pump probably has problems.
