Can you tell if it is side specific (left bank, right bank)? Might be a lifter. Change your oil and put in a quart of Rislone. Might be a sticking lifter. You can get a piece of heater hose 2 or 3 feet long, put one end to your ear and use the other end to listen around the engine. The hose will isolate the noise above engine noise.

The Rislone is an additive that helps sticky lifters. It may or may not help. If it doesn't, either you have a rocker nut backed off or the lifter has partially collasped or, worse, a cam lobe starting to round off. If it comes down to replacing the lifter, you can tell when you pull the lifter out by looking at the base of it if the cam is deteriorating. If it is ok, replace all lifters, not just one. [8D]
