Default Vibration on acceleration

I have a '92. Stock with automatic. 140,000 miles on the car. Runs fine. But recently I have noticed that if you are cruising along at typical speeds, 40 to 55mph, and hit the gas to accelerate I feel and hear a vibration that sounds and feels like I am going over dummy bumpers or rumble strips in the road, but there are none. It stops after a few seconds or once you back up off the gas.
Any ideas what to look at / for ?
Thanks...

Welcome to the forum.

Vibrations are tough to troubleshoot, especially over the internet. Could be U-joints, bearings, or something in the rear end differential.

If you have the automatic Trans, it could be the overdrive in the torque converter. When the transmission gets old and can't provide the pressure to the overdrive in the torque converter it starts to slip under certain acceleration conditions. If you can turn off your overdrive, see if it doesn't do it then. A Trans Go kit would fix that problem if that's what it is. I put one in my F-150 and got another 125K miles out of it after it started to do that.
