Default what type of oil???

I know that the car calls for 5w30, but when I start my car in the morning it sounds like it ticks. I just did an oil change and used 10w40 and a bottle of lucas oil stabilizer. It has seemed to remedy the problem. I was just wondering what you guys use, so I have a reference. Does anyone use synthetic, is it worth the extra money?

I have always used synthetic, 5-30w, as recommended by the manufacturer.

Synthetic is superior to conventional, but a lot depends on your driving habits as to whether you want to spend the additional money. Just my opinion.

Is the ticking you heat lifters on startup or possible the injectors?

Put a compression gauge in all 8 holes and measure the squeeze. That might tell you if you have lifter/valve problems, or something else.

Do it cold and hot too...
