2000 c5 service column lock message
My C5 has had the column lock campaign done on it several years ago. Today it came up with the message "Pull key - Wait 10 seconds". After doing that, it comes up with the message "Service column lock". The engine starts and runs fine, but if you start to drive, it immediately kills the engine. It does it in forward or reverse. If I creep along at about 1 mph, it will stay running. I had it towed home, and tried using my wife's key and fob, with the same results. I tried locking it up, setting the alarm, and unlocking it, with the same results. First the pull the keys message, then the service column lock message. I also tried disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes, then reconnecting it. no help.
I checked for error messages, and found TCS code C1241 Current. I do not believe that has anything to do with the stalling issue, since it is for the magnasteer system, and will only disable that system.
It is a 2000 C5 with automatic transmission. No mods, chips, gadgets or gizmos. Just plain stock Corvette. Any ideas or help would be appreciated. Thanks, Gumby

Has the column lock been disabled at some time in the past? If it has, a fully-charged battery and resetting of the code should be all you need.
